I noticed upon install that ArcFM 10 beta requires an ESRI VBA license. Will this be a requirement for the shipping version as well?

Yes, it will be. The working plan for the release following the initial 10 release is that we will remove that requirement. There are a few components we have that require the VBA license and will require a re-write (the Attribute Editor, e.g.).

Fortunately, the VBA license is free, but by request from ESRI.

Post 10 release will not require VBA active license, so I'm assuming the plan is to remove it @ 10.1?

Unfortunately...not quite yet. In the original post I did say "working plan" :) Not a cop out, though it sounds like one. Our intentions were truly to completely remove it based on information we had from Esri VBA would be completely removed from 10.1 ArcGIS. Esri then made the decision to keep VBA in 10.1, which in turn made us focus on our efforts that would be more appreciated by you, our customers. Re-writing an existing, working component didn't make the top of the list and hence it is not a top priority.

That all said, we are still actively working on re-writing our components that require the VBA. With 10.1, ArcCatalog technically does not require the VBA anymore as the ArcFM Properties Manager has been re-written. We are actively re-writing the ArcMap components in ArcMap too, but they will not be ready for 10.1

We'll get there, and our apologies for the inconvenience. We do hope you like the great progress we've made on other fronts within the ArcFM Solution for 10.1, however.
