Since there are many electric utilities in this forum, I figured this would be a good place to ask about substation modeling.

We are a utility that owns some transmission, substations and a distribution network. We currently have our distribution network modeled in GIS (which also is linked to an asset management system). I am currently working on a project to model the substations accurately in GIS and incorporate those also into the asset management system.

I am planning on eventually using Extended Feeder Manager for our transmission system, but I wanted to make sure I was able to model the substations accurately first.

Has anyone done substation modeling in GIS? Have any advice or tips?

Thanks!
