If I place misc. text and shapes using the standard Arcmap Draw toolbar directly into my design, what will happen when I attempt to post the design. There is no annotation layer defined in the ArcFm model. Will the text and shapes be "shed" during the posting process or will conflict errors occur?

I don't know for sure because I haven't tested this, but I'm guessing you'd lose them. In fact I'd think they'd only be stored in your .mxd anyway since you said you don't have annotation layers. They're really not a part of your design.

You will lose them.

As an alternative, we use an annotation feature to accomplish this. For those we want posted we just add as any annotation feature, for those we don't we add the MMDONOTPOST model name too.
